We’re starting to get excited about opening for the delectable Carrie Rodriguez on Thursday 17th November at the Voodoo Rooms, Edinburgh.
The daughter of accomplished songwriter David Rodriguez, Carrie came to everyone’s attention a decade ago, performing with singer-songwriter Chip Taylor.
She has established an impressive roster of touring, recording, and co-writing affiliations—with Lucinda Williams, Rickie Lee Jones, John Prine, Mary Gauthier, Alejandro Escovedo, guitarist Bill Frisell, and others. Carrie is returning to the UK for her first tour since the birth of her baby Cruz, armed with her new album ‘Lola’.
Lola is “the perfect bicultural album…It’s the album she was born to do, what with her mother’s west Texas roots and her father’s Mexican American background, but she arrived at this point by collecting her own identity along the way: first classical violin, then Americana fiddle and country vocal duets with Chip Taylor. The beauty of this album is in the details.”—Felix Contreras, NPR Music
