We got three gigs coming up this month: Friday 4th May, 8.30pm at The Tron, Edinburgh; Saturday 12th May, 9pm at the Bon Accord, Glasgow; Friday 18th May, 9pm at The Espy, Edinburgh.

And we’re working on a couple of gigs up north and westwards in June, and finalising details for Perth’s Southern Fried Festival in July.

Iain guests with Jim Lauderdale

We’re really proud of our Iain who was asked to sit in for seven songs at Jim Lauderdale’s gig on Sunday 13th November at Oran Mor in Glasgow, at Jim’s invitation. Good looking as Iain is, Jim had only a very slightly more glamorous guest player at his recent London gig – none other than the oscar-winning Gwyneth Paltrow.

With a raft of Grammy nominations under his belt, Jim’s songs have been recorded by the likes of George Jones and George Strait. He’s co-written with the mighty Buddy Miller, and has played in Lucinda Williams and Elvis Costello’s bands.

And this is the second time he’s asked Iain to play with him. Go Iain!

Thanks to everyone who came out to support us at the Voodoo Rooms on 7th October. We were truly thrilled to see so many of you there for the ‘wetting of our wee album’s heid’.

Thanks also goes to Brian Harris and his ‘Powerless Trio’ (Ben and Iain) for the tremendous warm up set and to Fraser Millar for the amazingly flattering photos (check them out on the ‘Photos’ tab).

And the night wouldn’t have rocked half so hard had it not been for George Stott’s steaming guitar and mandolin, and awesome keyboards from Ali Petrie.

We’ve got the album, we’ve got the date, we’ve got the venue, we’ve got George Stott and Ali Petrie playing with us, we’ve got the mighty Brian Harris supporting us, we’ve got just 3 days to go – now all we need is you!

Blending the best elements of country, roots and power pop, The Sunshine Delay launch their long-awaited second album, KEEP IT TOGETHER. Appealing to fans of REM, Wilco, Tom Petty and Lucinda Williams, the foursome will be joined by George Stott on guitar/mandolin and Ali Petrie (Hobotalk) on keyboards for their live album launch party. Southern Gatherin’ 2011

We’re looking forward to our spot at the Southern Gatherin’ 2011 music festival in Peebles. Taking place on the 3rd and 4th of September, we’ll be playing a 45 min acoustic set at 3pm in the Bridge Inn on the Sunday, sharing the day with an eclectic mix of Scottish bands including Tucker & The Scattered Family, Dropkick and Kat Healy, amongst others.

June gigs

Howdy sun-seekers. June’ll be busting out all over with a whole bunch of different gigs. This Friday 3rd we’re heading westwards with the setting sun to Glasgow to play at the Vagabond Social Club, sharing the night with singer-songwriters Martin McLaughlin and Jamie Flett. Friday 10th we’re playing a new but local venue to us, the lovely Reverie Bar in Edinburgh’s Newington. Sunday 12th we’re doing an afternoon slot at The Village in Leith as part of the 2011 Leith Festival (seems like only yesterday since the last one…) so please head over for a restful afternoon of rockin’ rootsy-power pop. And Sunday 19th we’re playing your favourite venue and ours, the Barony Bar, where George Stott from the Go Figures will be joining us for a full electric line up. Man, there’s so much to live for!

Nobles Bar, Fri 13th May

Might be unlucky for some, but we’re playing a gig at the lovely Nobles bar in Leith this Friday night, 13th or not. The band were recently enlightened that the number 13’s unlucky connotation sprung (slowly, mind) from events around the last supper. Not sure where the Friday bit slipped in. Still, we’re not inviting you for food (this is Edinburgh after all, you’ll have had yer tea) but Nobles does do some great grub if you get there early enough. Don’t know the last time you were at Nobles but it’s been restored to its former glory and we’ll be there from 9pm bringing you our truly lucky roots-rock Spring musical offering.
